Own YOUR POWER

If you are reading this, you are likely needing a reminder of what you are capable of. You are not alone. I too have felt the intermittent feeling of drowning in an ocean of self-doubt. But I refuse to allow it to take me under. I write these words and all the others you will find on this site to help us find our power and hold onto it for dear life. There is a fight that happens early on when a *monster takes a part of you and threatens to take the rest of you with it. The fight continues as it attempts to take your self-esteem and courage in the months and years that follow.

Slowly but surely, after struggles and setbacks, I have  found that place of power and plan to set up camp permanently. Sadly, it took the loss of a limb to get here, but nonetheless, I HAVE ARRIVED. The power within me burns hotter and brighter than ever before. As a woman, I feel stronger and even better in my skin. I feel that my voice should be heard, not muffled and I am more outspoken about what I believe to be fair and just. My 36 years have taught me things that have helped me grow my knowledge and power and I am learning to appreciate them more than ever before.

I find nothing weak in feeling sadness and showing emotion. In fact, I find that those who shove their feelings into a deep dark corner within them have the hardest time finding their inner power amongst the crowded, messy depths of unprocessed and very heavy thoughts that have yet to be brought up. Still, your power sits there patiently waiting to be found. Acknowledging and processing the effects of the *monster is the first step in defeating it.

I am blessed to be able to communicate with others fighting similar battles. It is pure magic watching them get to a place where they too can own their power. There is a light only you can turn on and continue to fuel as you face challenges day after day. You may even find you like yourself a bit more with your fiery new spirit in tow. Own it. Fight back when outside forces try to bring you down. After all, they are on the outside. No need to let them in.

*Monster- Cancer, disease, trauma, abuse, depression and anything that means to take your sunshine away.
