April 13th- Eras Tour
After losing The Great Verified Fan Ticketmaster War back in November, Karma stepped in just when I needed her and took me to The Eras Tour, and It was every bit as sparkling and bejeweled as I hoped it would be.
In true Florida fashion, the week of the Tampa show was clouded by a pretty serious rain threat, and being that Raymond James Stadium is all open air, you could say I was a little concerned about my non-waterproof, $50,000 microprocessor knee. So with pink raincoats in hand, my friends, Mom, and I made our way to Tampa, ready for whatever may come.
When we were finally able to check into our "hotel" ( the only one that still had rooms available to book even two months in advance), we found stained sheets, moldy bathroom tiles, and dirty floors. Every piece of furniture in the room was either rusted or broken. We had to laugh, and all agreed it was only a place to put on our sparkly outfits and crash hard after a long night. With that in mind, we curled our hair, added glitter to our faces, and let out a bunch of excited screams as we rushed to get there in time to see the giant clock on the stage screen strike Midnight, signaling the start of Taylor's 3.5-hour-long set. When we finally found our seats, we had four minutes to spare. Just long enough to look around and take it all in. So many things had to go wrong and then right for us to make it here. As promised, the show was full of themed outfit changes, shooting flames, and some sort of light show in the sky that made us all feel like we were about to be abducted by aliens ( not that we cared at that moment). I spent most of the show dancing and scream-singing my heart out. As humid as it was outside, I miraculously had no sweat issues with my prosthetic, and IT NEVER RAINED.
The night ended with a 1 am trip to Wawa for late-night snacks that were eaten in motel beds while we relived our favorite moments from the show. It was everything I needed it to be, and I could not be more thankful that both the weather and my prosthesis cooperated to let me shake it off all night long.
